Apprentice Electricians Full-time

$14.50

Duration:
4-6 months.

What you will do:

Assist with the inspection and testing of electrical components and systems including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears.

Help diagnose, repair, assemble and install various electrical components and systems.

Interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.

Use a variety of tools and techniques to complete electrical tasks.

Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.

Obtain price quotations on materials needed; submits purchasing orders for approval.

Utilize work order system to record detailed handling of scheduled assignment including hours needed to complete assignment.

Perform work at various heights, from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas. Fall protection safety training and equipment, if required, will be provided.

Ability to positively identify colors of wires.

Observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required.

Wear the provided personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Including hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, dust masks, respirators, etc.

What you will need:

High school diploma or equivalent

Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record

MUST be currently in the GCU Electrical Apprentice Program

Ability to work from various sizes and types of ladders.

Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Skill in the use of personal computers, smart phones, and related software applications.

Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Demonstrate an ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, with varied groups and to work effectively with university students, faculty, and staff, as well as with professionals, governmental entities, community groups, and the general public.

Act collaboratively to solve problems and resolve spontaneous and unique situations with professionalism and service orientation.

Must pass pre-employment background investigation.
