Phlebotomist - Full Time Permanent

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist for a contract role projected to last 3 months, with potential to convert to a permanent position. This role is essential to ensuring accurate specimen collection and processing, supporting patient care and diagnostic workflows.

What you'll do

Perform blood draws, labeling of specimens, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, and decontamination duties

Collect and store specimens according to established procedures

Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients

Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles

Fully understand and follow physicians' orders

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order

Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy

Package specimens for transport

Store specimen samples according to required temperature guidelines

Update patient information as needed

Troubleshoot issues, assist with training, and recommend workflow improvements

Required qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomist (1 to 2 years required)

Experience with blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and decontamination procedures

Proficiency with venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques

Experience using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
