Electrical Engineering Project M

Flint Hills Resources is seeking a self-motivated Electrical Project Engineer with power systems experience to join our Pipelines and Terminals ICE (Instrumentation, Control, Electrical) Engineering team. This role supports a diverse portfolio of pipeline and terminal assets across the Midwest and offers the opportunity to work on impactful, long-lived electrical infrastructure projects.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will anticipate customer needs while supporting pipelines and terminals, partnering closely with project teams, operations, and contractors. You will also collaborate with other Koch companies to share knowledge and improve electrical engineering practices. Occasional after-hours support may be required to address electrical equipment issues.

This role is based in Rosemount, MN, Wichita, KS, Corpus Christi, TX, or Euless, TX, and may require relocation for candidates outside the local area. Relocation assistance may be considered for qualified candidates.

The ICE Engineering Team (Instrumentation, Control, Electrical) consists of approximately 18 engineering professionals who provide design, implementation, and commissioning support for 4,000 miles of pipeline and approximately 60 petroleum, asphalt, and ammonia terminals and booster stations. The team is responsible for both power and control systems design, serving as the electrical authority for supported assets.

Flint Hills Resources is a privately held company offering a flexible hybrid work environment (after initial training). Apply industry and company standards and codes to design, implement, commission, and maintain low- and medium-voltage electrical power distribution systems

Serve as the subject matter expert for the electrical scope, partnering with project managers, contractors, and vendors to develop scopes of work and oversee resources for successful project execution

Provide SME support for electrical systems, including switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, power distribution equipment, and protective relays

Review and approve deliverables from engineering contractors supporting the electrical scope of projects

Evaluate and implement new technologies to advance FHR's electrical capabilities

Partner with the Electrical Safe Work team to provide engineered solutions that create a safer work environment

Support the Arc Flash Program by conducting studies, developing and verifying models, reviewing results, generating labels, and recommending strategies to reduce incident energy levels

Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical system issues to improve site reliability

Bachelor's degree with five (5) years or more of experience, or a minimum of ten (10) years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting performing electrical power-related capital projects

Experience supporting low and/or mediumvoltage power systems for industrial facilities

Experience maintaining engineering documents for electrical systems (e.g., one-lines, panel schedules, schematics, wiring diagrams)

Experience specifying electrical equipment and working with vendors or contractors, including reviewing technical information or proposals

Willingness to travel up to 25%, with occasional increases based on project needs

Experience supporting the petrochemicals industry and/or fuel and asphalt pipelines and terminals

Experience supporting industrial control systems, including PLC/HMI programming and equipment configuration

Experience programming a variety of electrical protective relays.

Experience developing equipment reliability strategies and lifecycle plans.

Demonstrated technical knowledge and hands-on experience with predictive, preventative, and analytical testing methods to determine asset health

Demonstrated ability to assess electrical system performance and conduct load studies to develop and implement improvement recommendations

This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
