Supply Chain / Procurement / Buyer / Purchaser

Buyer is responsible for managing relationships with current suppliers as well as cultivating relationships with new suppliers. Buyer will manage the company's spending to reduce costs, enhance profits and improve efficiency. This position will also track supplier performance to unsure quality and timely delivery from suppliers.

Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, procedures, terms & conditions, purchasing system, etc.

Work with the product engineering and quality organizations to develop and define detailed supplier requirements.

Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.

Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

Administer online purchasing systems.

Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.

Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.

Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials.

Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.

Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.

Arrange for disposal of surplus materials.

Develop organizational policies or programs.

Implement organizational process or policy changes.

Interview employees, customers, or others to collect information and coordinate with external parties to exchange information.

Bachelor's degree in purchasing, supply chain, business, technical or related.

• 3+ years of professional experience in procurement or supply chain management, with demonstrated success in a purchasing role.
• Experience with other automotive OEMs or tier 1 suppliers will be considered.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP and advanced Microsoft excel skills
• High Mix - Low Volume work experience.
• Strong understanding of cost modeling, market analysis, and market supply
• Proven ability to manage multiple programs and customers
• This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pontiac, MI.
