Registered Nurse- Fulltime- Nursing Pool

Position Overview The Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) is a skilled, flexible professional responsible for delivering high-quality patient care across multiple hospital units and locations in alignment with their scope of practice. The RN must adapt to varying unit types and be scheduled based on patient census and acuity. The RN provides patient care using the Nursing Process and adheres to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA standards, CDC infection control guidelines, and SRHS nursing policies.

Shift and Locations Shift options are 7:00AM–7:00PM or 7:00PM–7:00AM. The RN will work at any of the following hospitals: SingingRiver Gulfport Hospital, SingingRiver Ocean Springs Hospital, SingingRiver Pascagoula Hospital, and other SRHS facilities as needed.

Responsibilities Key duties include:

Providing standardized nursing care across a minimum of two units or two locations.

Delivering patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with nursing standards.

Collaborating with healthcare teams and supervising LPNs, patient care assistants, and unit technicians.

Maintaining up-to-date BCLS certification and specialty certifications.

Completing de‑escalation training within 90 days of orientation.

Participating in weekend and major holiday coverage as required for part‑time and full‑time roles.

Education and Licensure Graduate from the National League for Nursing (NLN) School of Nursing or equivalent.

Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Mississippi.

Certifications Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – required upon hire.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – for Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, CHF, Cardiovascular Surgery, ICU, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, PACU/Recovery.

Patient‑Aided Resuscitation (PALS) – for Emergency Department, Medical Nursing (OB/GYN), Nursery, Pediatrics, PACU/Recovery.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – for Labor & Delivery and Nursery.

Traumatic Nursing Care Competency (TNCC) – for Emergency Department; required within 18 months.

Experience Minimum of two (2) years of inpatient clinical experience within the last five (5) years, or evidence of successful completion of a refresher program.

Reports To Centralized Scheduling and Float Pool Director.

Patient Care Assistants

Unit Technicians

Physical Demands The role requires moderate physical activity, including walking throughout the facility, moving between units, lifting and carrying moderate weights, operating standard office equipment, and exposure to body fluids. The RN must be able to work extended periods and adapt to changing shift schedules.

Mental Demands Requires advanced critical thinking, decision‑making, and effective communication skills. Must maintain emotional stability under high stress, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks in complex situations.
