The primary role of the Phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations within the laboratory environment.

Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.

Record maintenance data and conduct decontamination procedures.

Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.

Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.

Place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes and accurately label them.

Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.

Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.

At least 2+ years of phlebotomy experience.

Proficiency in blood draw and specimen collection techniques.

The work environment is a fast‑paced lab, clinic, or hospital setting where you will engage with patients and medical professionals. The position may require handling various technologies and equipment, following strict protocols to ensure specimen integrity and compliance with health regulations. The shift for the position is Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based in Charlottesville, VA.
