The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full-time position to work within the division of Adult Psychiatry in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program. This position will support the department by providing clinical care within the New York Presbyterian Hospital at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

The CPEP is staffed with Psychiatric Attendings, Residents, Registered nurses, students, licensed social workers, a recreation therapist, and admission personnel; a vibrant team where professional peer support and supervision is also a priority. A typical work week would include three 12-hour daytime shifts.

Provide diagnostic psychiatric evaluations for patients in the adult emergency department.

Orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians.

Assess for risk factors and contraindications to treatment.

Provide psychopharmacologic and short-term psychotherapeutic treatments for a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses.

Documents essential elements of patient care in accordance with regulatory and institutional standards.

Performs general administrative functions, and related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience

Master's degree in Nursing

A minimum of two (2) years' experience in an outpatient setting, or inpatient setting, or emergency department setting.

Current New York State Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse license.

National Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
