Material Handler Warehouse, Immediate start

Responsibilities

The material handler reports to the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring all production equipment is supplied with the materials required. The handler also maintains the cleanliness of the plant floor areas and uses proper procedure during cleanup. Machines must be kept free of spilled plastic pellets.

Establish an efficient route from machine to machine, grinding area, material storage area, warehouse and assembly areas to develop awareness for immediate and upcoming material requirements.

Advise the supervisor immediately if a task cannot be attended to or completed as required.

Convey all items with complete identification; report unidentifiable material to Quality or Supervisor immediately.

Ensure materials are consumed in FIFO order.

Keep machine hoppers full, covered, and grinders emptied at all times.

Be familiar with all types of resins; ensure the correct material is used for the job by consulting Operation Instruction or setup sheet; blend color concentrate when required.

Ensure the maximum allowable regrind is consumed in each molding process.

Cover all hoppers and dryers and identify them with the proper material ID tag if applicable.

Perform grinding promptly and empty grinder buckets periodically before overflow.

Store virgin and regrind material in separate containers that are clearly marked.

Return all unused material to the raw material inventory.

Communicate with the next shift’s handlers to coordinate/anticipate mold changes and required tasks.

Notify Supervisor immediately if any items are low in inventory to avoid shortages.

Break down empty gaylords.

Ensure all products (where applicable) are scanned before being moved to the warehouse.

When a job is not running, remove all packaging and components and store them in the approved area.

Remove garbage in the cell before the end of the shift.

Turn off loader during raw material change to stop material feed.

If required, drain remaining material from loader or dryer and place it back into storage before the next production run.

Disassemble loader or dryer and clean all previous material.

Inspect the loader or dryer to ensure all pellets and dust have been removed.

Reassemble loader or dryer.

Place the correct material ID chip (if applicable) on the dryer or loader.

Update the dryer log sheet to the new material or lot.

During cleaning of grinders, turn off the main power switch, unplug the grinder, and lock out the main disconnect.

If required, remove remaining regrind from drawer and store in raw material storage area.

Use a vacuum to thoroughly clean the drawer and its corners of all particles.

Disassemble the grinder, ensuring blades and screen are free of previous material using a vacuum.

Replace and tighten all articles that were removed.

Sweep the grinder area to ensure all pellets have been removed.

Plug the grinder in and turn on the main power switch to proceed with grinding.

Minimum Qualifications

Grade 12 education and experience in material handling or injection molding.

Required Skills

Fork Lift handling.

Understanding of key Quality and Environmental Management Systems procedures related to the job function.

Forms, tags, and labels.
