Minimum of 2 years of recent MedSurg, Telemetry, and Step-Down (PCU) level experience.Description: The unit cares for a diverse range of patients. The goal is to provide a high standard of patient safety and care. The unit does not serve as an overflow or holding area. It functions as a Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit. The primary focus is receiving admitted patients, completing admission assessments, medication reconciliation, and initiating acute care orders. Nurses will encounter various diagnoses, making a well-rounded background beneficial. Charge Nurse experience or a willingness to consider such responsibilities is appreciated. The unit aims for efficient ED decompression and improved throughput. Nurses are expected to float to other units within their skill set as needed. Additional opportunities may arise in telemetry and ED transport roles. The telemetry nurses oversee patients for safety and facilitate timely placement on telemetry as needed. ED transport nurses assist in moving higher acuity patients from the emergency department to specialized inpatient units. This initiative enhances throughput and nursing care continuity in the emergency department. Most nurses in this unit request extensions, with many having long tenure.
