The Actuary Intern gains exposure to multiple aspects of health insurance, including data analysis, technical skill development, underwriting, and customer service. This role supports projects of varying complexity that contribute to the success of the actuarial and underwriting departments. Medical, Dental, Vision, & Pharmacy

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Econometrics, or a related field.

2+ years of professional work experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAS, SQL, Microsoft Access, or similar data analysis tools.

Ability to apply mathematical concepts, including statistics and data mining.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.

Maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image.

Assist associate actuaries with various actuarial projects.

Develop an understanding of fundamental health insurance concepts, including Traditional Medicare and Medicare Supplement.

Become familiar with the regulatory environment of the health insurance industry.

Develop proficiency with actuarial tools, including Excel and SAS.

Analyze data sets of varying sizes and complexity to extract meaningful information.

Office environment with extensive close PC and keyboard use, constant sitting, and frequent phone communication. Must be able to navigate multiple computer screens. A reliable, high-speed, hard-wired internet connection required to support remote or hybrid work. Must be comfortable being on camera for virtual training and meetings. Work in excess of standard workweek, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet business need.
