Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer who is a graduate with a Bachelor's degree (B.in engineering. The successful candidate will have a desire to work, grow, and have fun with a multi-discipline engineering team. They are passionate about engineering and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth and technical excellence.
The successful individual will have a passion for protecting lives from fire risks in the built environment. The ideal candidate will have a fire protection engineering degree, however, an engineering degree in other fields (mechanical, architectural, civil, chemical, etc.) with a demonstrated interest in fire protection will also be considered.
This position will support the team in providing our clients with: fire and life safety code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant rated construction analysis; automatic suppression system design and analysis; fire detection, alarm and communication system design and analysis; smoke control system design and special inspections; site inspections and witness of life safety system testing; fire hazard analysis; performance-based design; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts.
The Denver Fire Protection Engineering department collectively has 50+ years of experience in Fire Protection Engineering across our department of six, all of whom will provide you with training, mentorship, and support to help you grow your career. We enjoy working together collaboratively in the office and supporting each other to deliver good engineering work that makes the world a safer place.
Bachelor's degree (B.in engineering from accredited college or university.
Fire Protection specific degree preferred.
Mechanical, Architectural, Civil, Chemical Engineering degrees also considered

Experience working in AutoCAD and/or REVIT (preferred).
General building construction knowledge (preferred).
Intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and simple graphics.
Working in-person in our Westminster, CO office, full-time, Monday through Friday.
Attend and participate in local and national professional organizations, such as SFPE and NFPA.
Performing research and document for internal and external distribution.
Analysis of existing fire protection systems; design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, fire alarm and mass notification systems.
Building and fire code analysis and interpretation.
Utilization of AutoCAD, Revit to prepare fire protection system designs.
programs to execute performance-based design efforts.
