Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Surg department. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent communication skills.
Position Information:
Department: Med/Surg
Specialty: Med/Surg Tele
Shift: 7 PM - 7:30 AM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS
Years of Experience: 2+
Float Requirements: Ability to step down to care for med/surg patients as needed
Unit Information:
Number of Beds: 36
Patient Ratios: 5:1 & 6:1 (day shift will have a high volume of admissions and discharges)
Equipment Used: Baxter IV pumps, Omnicell, JP Drains, Hemovac Drains, Ostomy Care, NG Tubes, Tube Feeding, PEG Tubes
EHR: MedHost
Patient Population:
Patients range from young adults to geriatrics, providing care for a diverse array of conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive post-surgical care, particularly for general surgeries, total knee and hip replacements, hernia repairs, and colectomies.
Administer IVs, manage NG tubes, and perform catheter care.
Provide skilled nursing care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Maintain high standards of documentation and patient care through adherence to established protocols and policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Med/Surg setting.
Proficient in IV insertion, NG placement, PICC and central line care, foley catheter management, and tube feeding.
Experience managing patients with total joint replacements, general surgical populations, COPD, diabetes, dementia, dialysis, stroke, NSTEMI, CHF, and A-Fib.
Strong team player who is self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

Dress Code:
Scrubs should be navy and black; casual wear and Crocs are not permitted.
