Life Insurance Underwriter

The Underwriter, Lender Placed Insurance (LPI), will support underwriting execution, risk evaluation, pricing analysis, and portfolio monitoring for LPI products including Mortgage Hazard, Auto CPI, Blanket/VSI, and Flood. Stay informed on industry trends and emerging risks; share observations and support updates to underwriting approach and risk appetite as directed.

Underwriting experience in LPI, specialty insurance, lender-placed insurance, or related lines.

Ability to evaluate risk, interpret loss experience, analyze financial information, and prepare sound underwriting recommendations.

Direct experience with Mortgage Hazard, Auto CPI, VSI/Blanket, and Flood products.

Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Underwriting Execution & Risk Evaluation

Evaluate risk selection, pricing, and program structure for new and existing accounts within assigned authority and established underwriting guidelines.

Support the development and documentation of underwriting guidelines, pricing assumptions, and portfolio optimization initiatives in partnership with the AWLS management team.

Analyze portfolio performance, loss trends, audits, and KPIs; Refer large, complex, special risk, or sensitive accounts to senior underwriting leadership with clear analysis and recommended next steps.

Apply underwriting practices consistent with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.

Support the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle, including quote letter development, binding, policy issuance coordination, and post-bind activities.

Maintain accurate and complete underwriting documentation, pricing models, underwriting audits, and risk assessments.

Collaborate with Compliance, Actuarial, Claims, Premium Operations, Policy Administration, and Finance to support coordinated execution.

Data, Reporting & Insights

Review portfolio reports, loss projections, and performance metrics; Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and enhanced reporting.
