Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking a full-time Electrician who will perform and provide lead oversight of journey level electrical work including the inspection, repair, installation and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and components.
30% Performs journey-level inspections, repairs, installations, service, and maintenance of electrical systems including conduits, duct systems, light and power circuits, motors, generators, transformers, control equipment, switches and other types of electrical lighting and power components
20% Prepares and adheres to a schedule of periodic electrical system inspections and preventative maintenance; develops and maintains specifications and documentation for electrical systems and equipment
20% Performs cabling and wiring as necessary for the installation of computers and other equipment; computes loads requirements against available power sources, checks blueprints on new construction and remodeling to identify possible electrical maintenance problems; servers as electrical inspector of systems and equipment installations
20% Troubleshoots electrical problems of equipment, systems and components; performs electrical system redesigns and reconfigures; plans and estimates costs of special projects, maintains records, logs and system documentation; requisitions electrical supplies and materials
performs general maintenance work; High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience performing electrician work equivalent to journey-level.
High-School Diploma or GED and the successful completion of a recognized four (4) year electrician apprenticeship program, which includes hands-on training
There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
May require local/national electrical certifications associated with assignment
Licenses and certifications may be subject to renewal and/or require Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or training by the State or issuing authority.
Five (5) or more years' experience performing electrical work in a commercial, educational or industrial complex to include installation, repairs and replacement of existing components.

• Five (5) years' experience developing and/or monitoring comprehensive preventive maintenance programs. Includes switch gear, transformers, emergency lighting and distribution systems.
• Five (5) years' experience problem solving complex electrical system issues.
• Five (5) years' experience leading other journey level electricians and training apprentices.
• One(1) year experience with a computerized maintenance management or work order system.

Schedules may consist of shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, or otherwise non-standard work schedules and may involve "on-call" status and/or called in to work with short notice.
Some work may be performed in an office/computer workstation and require the use of a computer and keyboard for training, to check emails, and/or communicate with coworkers and supervision.
Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed in an indoor environment with moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, gasses, blood or other body fluids). Work may sometimes occur in dusty, seldom occupied, or newly renovated facilities and as such, moderate exposure to dust or other particulates can be expected. Portions of work tasks may be completed outdoors which involve exposure to a variety of weather conditions, for short or long durations, including rain, wind, dust, cold temperatures and extreme desert heat. Some work may be performed in an office/computer workstation and require the use of a computer and keyboard for training, to check emails, and/or communicate with coworkers and supervision. This classification may require that an incumbent be on their feet, standing or walking while performing duties, for the majority, if not all, of a work shift.

Travel and Work Schedule: Travel to various locations at an assigned college or within the District is required. Schedules may consist of rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, or otherwise non-standard work schedules.
