Pediatric Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract

Location: Little Rock, Arkansas, a vibrant state capital known for its welcoming community, scenic outdoor spaces, and access to rich cultural and recreational experiences

End Date: January 17, 2027

Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,080–$2,190

Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Holiday Requirement: Holidays as needed

Pediatric patients from birth through under 21 years old, with occasional adult patients

Department Environment: High-volume emergency department with approximately 65,000 visits annually and an average daily census of about 200 patients

Three days of orientation plus specialty testing

Pediatric Emergency RN Job Requirements
Current Registered Nurse license in Arkansas or a valid compact nursing license

At least 2 years of recent pediatric emergency nursing or pediatric acute-care nursing experience

Experience in a large Level I trauma hospital or comparable high-acuity emergency department

Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and emergency response skills

Ability to provide compassionate, family-centered care to children and families in a fast-paced emergency care environment

Travel Pediatric Emergency Nurse Responsibilities
Provide safe, evidence-based emergency nursing care for pediatric patients with conditions ranging from minor illness to major trauma

Perform focused nursing assessments, monitor patient status, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly

Care for patients in a high-volume pediatric emergency department with typical nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:1–4, with fast-track ratios of approximately 1:5–6

Initiate peripheral IVs, perform phlebotomy, administer medications, and complete other clinical interventions within scope of practice

Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs as appropriate and support emergency stabilization efforts

Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, paramedics, technicians, ancillary services, and transport teams

Participate in trauma responses, resuscitation, airway management support, and care coordination for transfers and admissions

Document patient care accurately in Epic and follow department policies, procedures, and dress code standards

Travel nurses will not be assigned triage or SANE cases in this role
