The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is an integral member of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) team, providing skilled, evidence-based treatment under the general supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Working collaboratively with Physical Therapists, and other healthcare professionals, the PTA helps patients regain mobility, maximize function, and achieve their rehabilitation goals through compassionate, patient-centered care.

This position is ideal for an experienced PTA who enjoys clinical variety and professional growth. The PTA delivers care across multiple practice settings, including acute care, and outpatient services, with opportunities to expand clinical expertise while working with diverse patient populations. The successful candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, adaptability, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient outcomes in a collaborative academic medical center.

California Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant

American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR

2 years of clinical experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant

Ability to assist physical therapist and other staff with patients requiring therapy services of two or more persons.

The knowledge to properly prepare patients for treatment and provide modalities and procedures to patients under supervision of therapist

Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology and skills in monitoring patient's physiological status during course of treatment

Knowledge of indications and contraindications and the application of various physical therapy, hydrotherapy, modalities and procedures

Ability to provide treatments as requested, under supervision of therapist

Ability to schedule and transport patients in wheelchairs or on gurneys to and from treatment unit

Ability to prepare equipment and patient for treatment, remove and reapply dressing and bandages and clean and disinfect equipment after each patient's treatment in accordance with established policy and procedure

Ability to accurately document patient progress record and accurately prepare patient charge documents.

Ability to make safety check of work area, check safety of equipment and report deficiency or malfunction of equipment immediately to supervisor

Ability to clean work area, mats, equipment, apparatus and prepare linen and supplies for daily requirements

Key Responsibilities 80% - Provides patient treatment and patient care activities for routine and more difficult, complicated patients as directed by a therapist from predetermined physical therapy treatment plan.
