Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in any of our California offices. This role supports planning, design, and delivery of electrical power systems for water, wastewater, industrial, manufacturing, and MEP infrastructure projects.

The person in this role will join a growing technical services practice that brings practical electrical engineering solutions to facilities and industrial clients across the United States.

You'll collaborate with architects, multidiscipline engineers, designers, clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction to move projects from concept through construction support.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer , you'll contribute across electrical design, technical analysis, interdisciplinary coordination, and construction-phase support.

Design electrical systems: Develop power generation and distribution, grounding, lightning protection, public address (PA) systems, audiovisual (A/V) systems, data/telecom, fire alarm, cabling/cable trays, wiring, switchboards, service entrance, panelboards, and motor control centers, and specialty systems for industrial and MEP facility environments.

Perform engineering analyses: Complete calculations for voltage drop, fault study, electrical load studies, power flow, UPS and standby generator sizing, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc-flash hazard analyses.

Contribute to reports, construction plans, specifications, panel schedules, conduit schedules, conductor sizing, bus ducts, and HVAC equipment power schedules.

Use design platforms: Work in Revit, AutoCAD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting), SKM, ETAP, AGI32 for lighting calculations and design, and BIM-based design environments to produce coordinated design documents

related tools to support production of coordinated design documents.

Align Building Automation Systems (BAS), Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams, control schematics, process equipment needs, and interdisciplinary design requirements.

Support construction administration: Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and contractor questions for compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, NFPA standards, and AHJ requirements.

Mentor junior engineers and provide quality-focused technical direction.

Translating Complex Requirements into Practical Solutions: This role turns complex facility and industrial power needs into reliable, constructible solutions that help clients operate with confidence.

Bridging Engineering, Design, and Client Needs: The work connects electrical engineering with architecture, mechanical design, controls, client priorities, contractor input, and code requirements.

Providing Continuity from Planning Through Construction: You'll support projects from early planning through construction, helping teams resolve issues and maintain momentum.

Ability to apply engineering principles to varied facility conditions, design constraints, and client goals.

Skill in explaining technical information, coordinating input, and documenting decisions with clarity.

Comfort working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and reviewers to move work forward.

Ability to manage calculations, analyses, documentation, coordination items, and deadlines across concurrent priorities.

Willingness to investigate issues, evaluate options, and develop practical engineering recommendations.

Interest in coaching junior engineers and contributing to a supportive technical team culture.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience : 7+ years of post-graduate electrical engineering experience, preferably supporting industrial, interior facilities, and MEP-related projects.

Revit and AutoCAD proficiency required, as well as advanced 3D/BIM modeling capability to produce 2D construction documents.

Certifications, licenses, or professional registrations : Travel : Ability to attend client workshops, meetings, and site visits as project needs require.
