Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of ED experience and multiple specialty certifications.
Details
  • Work in a 32-bed General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
  • Level II Trauma Center with an average daily census of 120 patients
  • 1:4 patient ratios on all shifts
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 or 3x12 hours (1900-0730)
  • Weekend shifts required as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Cerner charting system preferred

Requirements
Active IL RN license or ETA required to apply
Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
Trauma experience required, either Level I or Level II
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP
Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction
Experience obtaining 12-lead EKGs
Proficient in blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
Experience with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration
Neurological case experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI
Orthopedic trauma case experience required
Pediatric case experience across a wide range of conditions including abuse identification, respiratory infections, and behavioral health concerns
Psychiatric case experience including acute psychosis, overdose, and management of violent or suicidal patients
Respiratory case experience including chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilator care
Shock/trauma case experience including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
Isolation precautions and triage skills required
Tele interpretation and ventilator experience required
Cerner charting experience preferred
Previous charge experience preferred
Additional Information
Care for a high-acuity, combined adult and pediatric ED population at a Level II Trauma Center
No block schedule accommodations available
Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
Requested time off ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
Required to work 2 of the 3 major holidays
Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Royal blue scrubs required
