Performs most modalities of echocardiography (i.e. 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging, as well as, assists with qualified physician with TEE procedures) and peripheral vascular studies (i.e. duplex imaging, Doppler and plethysmography of upper and lower extremity vasculature, abdominal viscera, carotid vasculature and/or intracranial vessels). Exams must follow IAC approved scanning protocol and the Smart Protocols must be utilized when possible. Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians.

Participates in the daily workflow by watching the sonographer worklist to ensure timely patient care. Participates in the Vascular Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules.

Operates all lab testing equipment and software packages including but not limited to ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS. Proficient in the use of telephone, printers, and fax machines. Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service. Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen. Maintains up to date logs to include the monthly cleaning log and the equipment down time log.

Keeps abreast of changes in the field and participates in collecting data, images and articles as necessary.

Graduate of a formal sonography program

Experience - One (1) year cardiac and vascular sonography experience performing non-invasive lab studies. In Lieu Of the Educational requirements above, completion of a Director approved sonography program may be considered.
