Golf Course Greenskeeper Full Time

Job Appointment: Full-time, Regular.

Portland Parks and Recreation is seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Golf Course Lead Greenskeeper. In this role, you will provide specialized care to golf course greens, grounds, and facilities while also serving as a lead to assigned workers. Utilize specialized knowledge of golf course operations to support the supervisor in ensuring the playability of assigned courses.

• Plan , schedule, and coordinate work activities, including determining resource needs and directing the work of the crew.
• Review the work of assigned staff, provide training, and offer guidance to ensure quality standards are met.
• Perform computer-related tasks such as timekeeping, record-keeping, and procurement.
• Hand water , monitor moisture levels, troubleshoot irrigation malfunctions, and manage irrigation scheduling.
• Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the irrigation system.
• Manage teams for bunker maintenance and restoration projects.
• Mow all heights of cut on the golf course and roll greens, as needed.
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and sand topdressing.

Applicants must demonstrate how their education, training, and experience meet each of the minimum qualifications listed below:

• Experience performing all golf course maintenance tasks that ensure daily playability (including water management, bunker maintenance, and golf course setup)
• Experience safely and effectively applying fertilizers and pesticides.
• Experience training staff, assigning work, reviewing work quality, and providing guidance to ensure maintenance standards are met.
• Ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicator license within 6 months of hire . For materials and study guide, click here.
