Position Description
Position Summary
The Field Engineer Intern is a supervised developmental assignment that introduces students or early-career candidates to heavy civil construction project management at Park. Working closely with Field Engineers, Project Managers, and site superintendents, the intern supports day-to-day field and office tasks with defined learning objectives and no independent project authority.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Support the Project Manager and Field Engineer on assigned project sites under direct supervision.
Provide administrative and technical support to the Project Superintendent and other project staff.
Review specifications and drawings to learn how construction procedures, staffing, and schedules are planned.
Help track project schedules and coordinate with subcontractors to support on-time completion.
Enter and validate data in Park's Field Management System.
Assist with the project's Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP) and the company's Quality Control Program.
Participate in the site's safety program, including safety meetings and audits.
Build relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and the workforce.
Review shop drawings and submittals, and help process RFIs and schedule updates.
Assist with document control, including submittals, contract documents, and as-built drawings, and support project closeout.
Run project errands, assist with material delivery and inventory, and help resolve field problems as they arise.

NOTE: This position is classified as Safety Sensitive.
Position Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
Knowledge of workplace safety fundamentals, including OSHA construction safety standards.
Knowledge of Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPPP) and quality control principles used in the construction industry, or willingness to learn.
Skill in using MS Office, with a willingness to learn HCSS HeavyJob and HeavyBid.
Skill in multi-tasking effectively across phone and computer work.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to communicate professionally and build relationships with owners, subcontractors, and the workforce.
Ability to assist with analyzing construction data and identifying production trends.
Ability to identify and report safety concerns.
Ability to learn quickly and grow professionally within a structured, supervised assignment.
Education and Experience
Preferred: Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field; no prior experience required.
Preferred: Prior coursework or exposure to construction management, civil engineering, or estimating concepts.
Physical Requirements
Combines office-based administrative and technical work with regular presence on active construction sites, including walking uneven terrain and working outdoors in varying weather conditions, with required use of PPE during site visits. Specific physical demand frequencies are to be confirmed.
Work Environment
Divides time between the project office/trailer and active Park construction project sites. This position is classified as safety-sensitive.
Schedule and Travel
Full-time or part-time seasonal schedule aligned with academic calendar and project needs; regular local travel to job sites within the Fargo area.
