LPN/CMA, Float

HealthPartners is currently hiring for an LPN/CMA, Float. This role will support the Foot and Ankle Department and float to multiple locations, including Saint Paul, Woodbury, Inver Grove Heights, and Bloomington.

LPN:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Current LPN licensure in Minnesota.

Current BLS certification for health professionals through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required and maintained (online-only BLS certification is not acceptable).

Demonstration of written and oral communication skills.

LPN Position Responsibilities Include:

Identify common and recurring nursing needs of the patient.

Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in ambulatory care setting.

Assist patients to achieve basic health care goals.

Identify patient education needs, provide instruction, and refer appropriately.

Document observations, actions, and patient outcomes.

Provide safe, accurate and clinically competent direct care to patients and families.

Recognize patients' abnormalities or urgent problems and seek appropriate assistance.

Obtain health history information. Obtain accurate vital signs, recognize and report variances.

Teach techniques or provide information according to established program.

Accurately and appropriately document procedures and treatment in each patient's record.

Appropriately communicate information to other members of the healthcare team.

Provide the patient and family with current and accurate information regarding the procedure and care.

Perform telephone screening under direction of RN or MD.

Assure patients' rights to privacy, safety, and confidentiality.

Maintain current practice by obtaining continuing education in relevant practice areas.

Maintain CPR certification.

Use time and materials efficiently.

Participate in goal setting and attainment for self, care unit, and/or department.

Serve as a catalyst in improving standards of LPN practice.

Serve as a role model for technical conduct and practice.

Provide support to professional and technical staff.

Solve problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the healthcare team.

Effect positive response from patients and other members of the healthcare team through interpersonal skills.

CMA:

Graduate from a Medical Assisting program accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT.

Current BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines (online-only BLS certification is not acceptable).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Attention to detail and organizational ability.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Compassionate and professional attitude toward patients.

Proficiency with electronic health record systems.

CMA Position Responsibilities Include:

Under the direction of a provider or registered nurse, instructs patients on basic information regarding examinations, special tests, procedures, or home/self-care.

Provides health information that is routine and standardized.

Recognizes and responds appropriately to medical emergencies.

Collects and reports patient health data.

Administers immunizations and medications by any route except intravenous.

Performs set-up and assists physician with diagnostic, therapeutic, or surgical procedures within the scope of practice.

Collects and processes lab specimens.

Acts as liaison between the patient/family and the provider, hospital, medical staff, or outside agencies involved with patient care.

Documents observations, actions, and patient outcomes per established policies and procedures.

Participates in quality improvement and outcome study activities, departmental in-services and workshops, and other educational opportunities that will improve patient care.

Complies with safety instructions, observes safe work practices, provides input on safety issues, and promotes a safe work environment.

Maintains regular and timely attendance.

Protects confidentiality.

Demonstrates participation in and support of the organization's Corporate Integrity Program by participating in compliance-related education and training and complying with the organization's policies and procedures.

Timely completion of all mandatory education and organizational requirements (e.g., licensure/certification, Employee Health and Wellness requirements, annual training, etc.).
