Description:
The unit has 20 beds and a patient ratio of 6:1.
Tech support is available on both day and night shifts.
Unit secretaries are present from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Equipment includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximeters, feeding pumps, PCAs, EKG machines, and bladder scanners.
Communication technology includes iMobile.
Documentation is performed using Meditech.
Staff is expected to work three 12-hour shifts per week, including two weekends (four shifts) in a four-week schedule.
Contract labor is the first to float, with rotation applied when multiple contract staff are scheduled.
Providing attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members is expected.
Shift reports are given at the bedside.
Staff should be able to make personal connections with patients and involve them and their family members in the care plan.
The unit holds certifications for Comprehensive Stroke and Level II Trauma Center status.
Candidates should be aware of the equipment and technology available on the unit, as well as the tenure and experience of the staff.
Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) are required.
Unit-specific policies and guidelines should be reviewed.
