Licensed Practical Nurse - Medicine Clinic

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of a registered nurse or physician and under assigned administrative supervision, provides care within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. Assists in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Follows patient identification procedures, provides appropriate information for all patient procedures, and collects and handles specimens. Assesses and implements prescribed interventions for the patient.

Implements and documents discharge plans for each patient. Recognizes ethical/legal/medical dilemmas and confers with appropriate resource personnel. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Assists with the care and maintenance of department equipment. Completes accurate charting of patient records and record‑keeping of equipment and quality measures. Collaborates with other disciplines of the health‑care team to ensure the delivery of care across the continuum, providing timely, safe, and quality care. Responsible for providing a safe, HIPAA‑compliant environment for the patient and staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Primary Care and Urgent Care
Assist medical personnel with special procedures, minor surgical procedures, and/or diagnostic exams. The LVN will process in‑office tests, collect specimens, and perform procedures within the scope of the Vocational Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent.

One or more years of experience in a healthcare facility (Specialty Clinics may hire a new graduate LVN with no experience).

Basic keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.

Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.

Primary Care and Urgent Care: Completion of educational courses within 6 months of hire: New Hire LVN course - Primary Care or Urgent Care.

License Required

Current LVN License to practice in the State of California.

Certifications Required

Current BLS Certification.

Certifications Preferred

Phlebotomy Certification.
