Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Nursing Team!
Job Description:

• Shift: Day 4x12-Hour (06:45 - 19:15)
• RTO: After booking is NOT allowed and cannot be worked out onsite.
• Unit Type: Runs more like an ICU; experience with strong drips is a must.

Required Skills / Certifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips.
• Background in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Telemetry.
• Strong skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

- Proficient in:

• IV insulin protocols
• Blood product administration
• Central and peripheral line care/management
• PICC line management
• Management of chest tubes and external CPAP/BIPAP
• High flow nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Certifications needed: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Patient Details:

• Target Ratios: 1:3-4
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, geriatric.
• Daily Census: 18 with 20 beds.

- Common Diagnoses:

• Respiratory distress
• Unstable hemodynamics
• Withdrawal
• GI bleeds
• Post-operative care for various surgical procedures
• Pre/post OB with complications.

Unit Details:

• Only one pressor drip per patient; any additional requires transfer to ICU.
• Special equipment includes bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup.
• Nurses must recognize and treat dysrhythmias.
• No vents on the unit.

Scheduling Details:

• Done by NM; NO BLOCK SCHEDULING .
• Weekend commitment: Every other weekend.
• Must float as needed to the sister unit (ICCU).

Unit Systems:
- Using Pyxis and Epic for charting.
Special Procedures:
- Experience with Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo drips.
