PHLEBOTOMIST - Weekend Shift

Job Summary Phlebotomist 2 - responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, maintaining high levels of customer service, preparing equipment and supplies, performing venipuncture and plasmapheresis, monitoring donor safety, documenting procedures, managing inventory, mentoring junior staff, troubleshooting equipment, and collaborating with quality assurance in a donation center environment.
Responsibilities Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g., Maintain high-level customer service and positive donor experience in line with company values and culture.
Set up and prepare all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedure.
Label each unit and sample accurately.
Execute venipunctures and plasma collection, maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Operate the automated plasmapheresis machines, including response and evaluation of all machine alarms and alerts, donor adverse events, and documenting exceptions.
Monitor donor conditions, employing techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and the quality of the plasma product.
Maintain proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality.
Disconnect donor and manage disposal of biohazard waste and contaminated equipment in accordance with safety protocols, including cleaning spills and disposition of biohazardous waste.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines and remove and/or replace equipment from service if needed.
Maintain and restock adequate inventory and replenish supplies on plasma carts.
Mentor Phlebotomist I, driving training efficiencies to ensure timeliness and compliance as a Designated Trainer.
Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform QCs routinely (daily/monthly) and periodically (quarterly/annually) on equipment.
Partner with Quality Assurance on overall Donor Floor performance (observations, CAPA implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives).
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Minimum three (3) months’ experience in a medical or health care environment or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Completed documentation of training appropriate for duties prior to performing independently.
Strong customer service skills required.
Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals required.
Demonstrated consistency and reliability (good attendance, punctuality, full effort throughout shift, flexibility with schedule) required.
Ability to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis required.
Ability to utilize all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods.
