Rebar Engineering Manager 2. Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for managing reinforcing steel (rebar) projects from award through fabrication and final delivery, with primary responsibility for coordinating and overseeing rebar detailing work performed by outside/third-party detailers. This position serves as the primary link between customers, contractors, external detailing resources, estimating, fabrication, purchasing, shipping, and field personnel. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring detailing is accurate, timely, and aligned with contract documents, approved drawings, project specifications, fabrication capabilities, and construction schedules. This position proactively manages RFIs, drawing revisions, approvals, material releases, fabrication priorities, and delivery requirements to keep projects on schedule while minimizing errors, rework, and unnecessary costs.

Manage assigned rebar projects from project turnover/award through completion.

Review contracts, estimates, project specifications, structural drawings, addenda, schedules, scope requirements, and other project documents.

Establish project requirements, milestones, detailing schedules, fabrication needs, and anticipated delivery dates.

Maintain a clear understanding of the project's scope of work and identify potential scope gaps or conflicts.

Coordinate project activities between customers, general contractors, subcontractors, outside detailers, fabrication personnel, and internal departments.

Track project progress and proactively identify issues that may affect detailing, fabrication, delivery, cost, or schedule.

Maintain organized and accurate project files, correspondence, drawings, approvals, revisions, RFIs, change documentation, and other project records.

Participate in project meetings as required and communicate relevant information to internal and external team members.

Assign detailing work to approved outside detailing firms or individual detailers based on project requirements, workload, capabilities, and schedule.

Provide outside detailers with complete and current project information, including structural and architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, project schedules, scope requirements, and company detailing standards.

Establish detailing priorities, drawing packages, deadlines, and expected turnaround times.

Maintain regular communication with outside detailers regarding project status, upcoming releases, revisions, RFIs, and changing priorities.

Monitor outside detailing performance for accuracy, quality, responsiveness, and schedule compliance.

Review detailing progress against project and fabrication schedules and adjust priorities when necessary.

Coordinate the transfer and organization of electronic drawings, models, bar lists, fabrication files, and other detailing documents.

Communicate recurring quality, accuracy, or performance concerns regarding outside detailers to management.

Develop strong working relationships with outside detailing partners while maintaining accountability for company standards and project expectations.

Excellent customer service skills including communicative and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to manage one's time and to handle multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet deadlines.

Proficient with all Microsoft Office Products and Bluebeam. Including Word, Excel, and Project.

Stand OCCASIONALLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift.

Walk OCCASIONALLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift. Sit FREQUENTLY to CONTINUOUSLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift.

Lift weights up to 30 pounds OCCASIONALLY from floor to head level, which includes the various prints, books, binders, and papers utilized to perform the usual work duties.

Lift weights up to 50 pounds RARELY to OCCASIONALLY from floor to chest level, which may include boxes of papers, books, presentation materials, and project documents.

Crawl OCCASIONALLY up to 10 feet to plug in equipment, retrieve dropped materials, or access work areas as needed.

Reach forward OCCASIONALLY to FREQUENTLY to perform job duties or retrieve materials.

Reach overhead OCCASIONALLY to retrieve books, supplies, and other materials.

Gross finger dexterity skills required operating a computer, telephone, and other equipment utilized in the course of standard job duties.

Non-Material Handling Demands

However, hours including overtime, weekends, and travel may be required based on Drake-Williams Steel's needs.

Visual ability to read and interpret material to satisfactorily do job.

Exposure to heat, cold, wet and humid conditions OCCASIONALLY during customer, jobsite, and facility visits.

Exposure to fumes, odors and dusts OCCASIONALLY during customer, jobsite, and facility visits.

Exposure to solvents, greases, oils, and coolants OCCASIONALLY.

Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment. Computer equipment, calculators, project management software, estimating software, CRM systems, Microsoft Office products, telephones, printers, scanners, presentation equipment, and other miscellaneous office supplies.

A minimum of one year of construction project management experience; A bachelor's degree in Construction Project Management, Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred.
