Travel ICU RN - Madisonville, Kentucky (13‑Week Assignment)
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for a 13‑week travel assignment in Madisonville, Kentucky. As a member of our team, you will provide comprehensive critical care to patients, operate life‑support equipment, administer advanced treatments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Overview
The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing and monitoring critically ill patients, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics in high‑acuity settings.

Requirements
Required Qualifications

One year of recent experience as an ICU RN

Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations

Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications

Preferred Qualifications

Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification

TNCC or NIHSS certification

Other certifications or licenses as required for the position

Responsibilities
The role encompasses the following essential work functions:

Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing and responding to subtle changes in condition

Administer complex medications and treatments following approved critical care nursing techniques

Operate and manage advanced life support equipment

Ensure patient safety and comfort in high‑acuity ICU environments, addressing physical and emotional needs

Record significant conditions, reactions, and interventions; notify the appropriate provider of changes in patient status

Perform and interpret advanced hemodynamic monitoring, including arterial lines, central venous pressure, and pulmonary artery catheters

Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record in a timely manner

Provide education to patients and families regarding the ICU environment, treatments, and recovery expectations

Communicate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient care

Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures and technologies through ongoing education and training

Adhere to strict infection control protocols, hospital safety protocols, and regulatory standards

Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ICU patient outcomes and operational efficiency

Perform other duties as assigned within scope

Essential Skills & Physical Requirements

Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills

Proficiency in reading, writing, and spoken English

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; proficient PC skills

Physical ability to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend

Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism

Manual dexterity to perform fine manipulation and assist with procedures and department equipment

Capacity to handle frequent contact with the public while meeting deadlines under pressure and working with irregular schedules

Good visual acuity and effective communication skills
