Responsible for performing assigned duties to optimize the effectiveness of the supply chain function. Responsibilities including planning, inventory control, kanban implementation/utilization, lead-time reduction, engineering change notice/new product launch material planning, total cost reduction activities, and some procurement activity. Under a minimum of supervision, release/order materials and product to established supply base insuring satisfactory quality and delivery to meet Company objectives and customer requirements.
Assures optimum inventory/kanban levels and on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and transportation charges.
Materials planning for release and/or ordering of materials and supplies to achieve on-time deliveries at the optimum inventory investment. Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages.
Follows materials practices, contracts, assessments, and policies to insure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with our suppliers.
Implements policies/procedures/processes that ensure the accurate processing of inventory and production transactions. Includes responsibility for the kanban process for material delivery.
Manages assigned commodities for inventory/data integrity, cycle counts, obsolete/excess inventory, returned material, engineering change notice/new product launch material planning, and supplier performance evaluation.
Insure that all business activities - with both internal and external customers - be performed with a professional demeanor and that all participants be held accountable to this high standard.
Expresses thoughts clearly, both orally and in writing, using good grammar. Demonstrates a commitment to the entire business and is supportive of all initiatives (company and departmental) to help grow Vehicle Service Group's business in the U.Accountability: Accepts responsibility and accountability for both the strategic planning and the successful implementation of all projects/programs/duties as outlined in this job description. Demonstrates a sound balance between quality and quantity of work while maintaining a sense of urgency toward completion. Moderate telephone and personal contact as well as some written communication with suppliers in placing or expediting releases and performing essential job functions. Extensive internal personal contact with purchasing personnel and moderate contact with design and manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, operation manager, shop floor personnel, and receiving/shipping personnel.
High school graduate with minimum 2 years of college with the ability to read blueprints. Minimum of 2 years experience in materials and/or purchasing or industrial and/or related field experience.
Supervision
Works under limited supervision. Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
