Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) located in Wausau, Wisconsin. The position involves providing specialized patient care within a Med Surg Intermediate Care Unit, with a focus on high-acuity procedures such as ventilator and tracheostomy management, sepsis treatment, trauma, and stroke care. Candidates must bring their Wisconsin RN license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details
Schedule: 12-hour shift, rotating days, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate, Wisconsin RN License, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC, 2+ years of clinical experience including stepdown, intermediate, or progressive care unit experience, ventilator and tracheostomy experience, at least one prior travel assignment.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, ICU experience, Trauma Level II certification.
Float: All inpatient units, as needed; typically floated to higher acuity units.
Additional Information: Contract length of 13 weeks starting ASAP. Guaranteed 36 hours weekly, with the unit closed during holidays. The unit features heavy telemetry, and primary patients include those with insulin drips, sepsis, trauma alcohol detox, GI bleed, chest tubes, TBI, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, and stroke, with a patient ratio of 4:1. The unit is fast-paced, requiring hardworking, resilient candidates who manage change well and can work independently.
Special Notes: This position is outside a 50-mile radius of a specified facility and involves adherence to specific contract policies, including mandatory vaccination wear during flu season if declines COVID and flu vaccines.
