The RoleAs a Senior Conveyor Engineer, you will lead the installation and operational activities of manufacturing conveyor equipment in GM facilities, ensuring compliance with industry and GM standards. You’ll play a key role in layout development to support manufacturing processes, integrate lean concepts for cost-effective designs, and collaborate on material presentation for operator assembly.This role involves managing multiple plants and large-scale projects, understanding the integrated supplier model, and overseeing project timing and financials. Travel as required: Frequency of the travel depends on the project requirements (up to 50%). All conveyor engineers in the department may be required to support execution projects which can have monthly travel requirements.What You'll Do· Execute complex conveyor projects, including engineering, fabrication, installation, and start-up in GM assembly plants across North America.· Lead multiple conveyor projects and equipment installations, ensuring compliance with GM standards and safety requirements.· Develop project timelines and manage financial aspects of conveyor execution.· Collaborate with engineers and suppliers to support project execution and resolve operational issues.· Drive lean conveyor designs to minimize total costs while supporting material presentation for assembly.· Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)· 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, project management, or related field (or equivalent experience).· Proficient in computer applications, interpreting engineering drawings, and adapting to new systems.What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)· Experience as a conveyor engineer or in maintenance roles.· Strong technical knowledge in process engineering disciplines, including plant layouts, process requirements, throughput, and simulation—especially in Body, Paint, and General Assembly.· Proven experience in project management.· Proficiency in AutoCAD and FactoryCAD for creating and modifying designs.· Familiarity with NX software or general awareness of its applications.
