Bus Attendant (Hourly)

Position Reports to: Operations Manager

Start Date: 2025-2026 School Year

Hours: 6:00am-8:00am and 4:00pm-6:00pm

Compensation: $22/hour

Position Summary

Bus Attendants protect and supervise scholars to and from their homes.

Manage behavior to ensure all scholars are safe.

Establish behavior on the bus that matches what is expected in classrooms.

Work approximately 4 hours per day in two 2-hour shifts. Hours vary by bus route but must be available approximately between 6:00am-8:00am and 4:00pm-6:00pm.

Daily Expectations

Supervise scholars while on the bus, strictly enforcing behavioral expectations.

Seat scholars based on their behavior and bus stop order.

Transition scholars in organized lines between the school building and the bus.

Call the school after the last scholar is dropped off, so that staff can leave.

Call the school if a parent is not at the bus stop to coordinate a pickup time.

Qualifications

21 years old and older.

High School Diploma.

Any experience working with children.

Successful Candidates

Certification through the Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) preferred.

If not already certified at hire, can apply for certification (involves examinations, training courses, fingerprinting).
