Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a Security Officer to join our team!

Responsibilities

The Security Officer strives to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors. They monitor surveillance equipment, inspect buildings and access points, and authorize entry of individuals to ensure a secure environment. Additionally, security officers respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and provide assistance during emergencies. They also write detailed reports on their observations and activities to maintain accurate records.

Security Officers respond to all emergency codes and remain alert for any fire or safety concerns. Security Officers will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment for patients who are under a Mental Health hold or an Emergency Commitment. Conduct interior and exterior patrols to include off-site facilities. Must maintain mandatory training requirements and maintain issued equipment to ensure proper function. Required to complete detailed written reports such as daily activity, physical management, contraband, and incident. Assist Hospital staff as needed to ensure patient care and perform other related duties as assigned.

Hours

Full Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every 2 weeks. This position is PM shift - 2:30PM - 11:00 PM.

Experience / Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.

An Associate or Technical School degree or Certification in security management, teaching capacity or related professional field preferred.

Two years related experience desired with at least 1 year experience in hospital, healthcare or related security setting.

Possesses a valid Wisconsin Driver's License required.

Demonstrated ability in use of N95 or PAPR (Powered Air Purified Respirator) and other precautionary equipment.

Possesses ability to operate computerized equipment, two-way radio, and personal computer and related software.

Demonstrates self-restraint in challenging and/or difficult situations as well as maintains professional composure during emergency or in pressure circumstances.

Must be able to work in inclement weather and in weather extremes.

Possesses good organizational skills.

Possesses advanced skills in Microsoft Office - Excel, Power Point, Word
