Requirements

Active RN License

Degree from an accredited nursing program

BLS & ACLS Certification

At least eighteen months of recent experience in an acute-care CVICU setting

Duties & Responsibilities
The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) registered nurse (RN) administers medications, checks vital signs, and alerts the physicians of any major changes in the patient’s condition. The RN acts as a liaison between the physicians and the patients, ensuring the welfare of each patient and communicating crucial information to families.

Administer care to patients following open-heart surgery

Coordinate treatment and care for heart transplant patients

Educate patients’ families on ongoing care and needs

Provide daily bedside care and monitor recovery progress
