Registered Nurse- Ambulatory Care Nursing

Role: Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices and maintains office hours as directed by physician. Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
Arranges for patient testing and admissions.
Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Performance Measurements:
Care for telephone calls in a prompt, professional and complete manner.
Provide nursing care to patients and carry out the physicians orders promptly.
Observe and report the patient's medical condition to the physician.
Arrange for patient testing, referrals, admissions, etc.
Observe all clinic policies and guidelines.
Education: (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
