Mechanical Project Engineer | Jacksonville, FLIMEG is hiring a Mechanical Project Engineer in Jacksonville, FL, to lead design efforts on low to moderate complexity projects and support the delivery of larger, more complex work with senior staff. In this role, you will provide engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight for mechanical systems in the vertical building industry while partnering with engineers, consultants, and clients to deliver practical, code-compliant solutions. You’ll also work within project budgets while mentoring team members and collaborating across disciplines to meet project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead the analysis and design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standardsPrepare detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and toolsPartner with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information clearlySupport project execution through planning, budgeting, scheduling, and ongoing tracking of percent complete and fee expendedDocument design decisions, client direction, and project progress throughout the design processAnalyze engineering challenges and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultantsConduct in-process reviews of system designs, calculations, and specifications and apply IMEG quality control standardsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated project solutionsIdentify potential project issues and elevate them to the Project Manager as neededSupport projects through bidding and construction administration phases while maintaining a strong focus on safety and risk mitigationRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry (years of experience may vary based on state license qualifications)Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systemsAbility to train and mentor less experienced staffProficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challengesProficiency in the use of Building Information Modeling (Building Information Model) softwareProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.As a 100% employee-owned firm, we offer the resources of a national design leader with the close-knit culture of a local office.
