Job Description

Reports to

Principal and Director of Student Services

Provides social-emotional support to at-risk students in classrooms as needed.

Provides social-emotional consult services to staff.

Performs casework service with individual students to identify and correct personal, social or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.

Performs casework service with parents as individuals or in groups.

Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case.

Supervises the referral of students to outside agencies as appropriate.

Makes home calls to gather information on a student's background.

Serves as liaison between home, school, community and state agencies.

Keeps sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies as appropriate.

Provides group work and individual services to students.

Works with family groups.

Evaluates students for special education placement by completing the social developmental component of the case study evaluation in a timely manner.

Strives to minimize number of absences from duty.

Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as appropriate.

Attends special education and 504 plan meetings, as needed.

Observes and follows all district policies and procedures.

Performs all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superintendent or principal.
