Senior Insurance Underwriter (Remote)

Your experience underwriting ESL opportunities will be critical to providing our customers with valuable, timely services. This position partners closely with Actuarial, Account Management, IT, Finance, Operations, and external stakeholders to price, deliver, and help administer ESL policies. Review facultative referrals from program underwriters, providing decisions, quality feedback, and direction in a timely manner.

Evaluate, price, and manage a portfolio of medical stop-loss cases, including both new business and renewals.

Analyze risk profiles, claims data, and market trends to develop competitive and profitable underwriting strategies.

Maintain underwriting discipline and ensure compliance with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Build and maintain strong relationships with MGUs, clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, risk management principles and state/federal regulations.

Perform underwriting audits and facilitate claims/premium audits with internal/external auditors for assigned programs.

Collaborate internally with operations, claims, and accounting to help administer program business.

Manage multi-functional teams and projects to help achieve departmental goals.

Bachelors degree required.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed underwriting decisions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of underwriting philosophy, methodologies, regulatory requirements, and state and federal filing guidelines.
• Strong understanding of underwriting reporting, financial analysis, and accounting principles.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data review, risk assessment, and decision-making.
• Willingness to travel to client locations, industry conferences, and other Old Republic offices.
