LOCATION: Wayland Baptist University - San Antonio

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt (Part-Time)

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None

POSITION LONGEVITY: One semester; continued employment not guaranteed.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Adjunct Instructor will work under the supervision of the Dean or Executive Director/Campus Dean. As a part-time instructor of WBU, the instructor will represent the University’s academic and spiritual emphases to the students, faculty, staff, and community in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and purpose.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES

Prepare and teach one 3-hour course.

Assist in promoting the academic programs and involvement with community activities.

Attend scheduled department meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A completed Wayland Baptist University application for employment with a statement consistent with WBU’s Christian mission.

EDUCATION

Master’s Degree required in area of instruction or any master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in area of instruction.

Terminal Degree mandatory for graduate courses; preferred for undergraduate courses.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Recent high school or university experience as an instructor is preferred.

Must obtain endorsement by the Dean or Executive Director/Campus Dean and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Written and verbal communication.

Proficiency with computer software and educational projection equipment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. Must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by ICE. Must be willing and able to travel and teach at external campuses. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependent vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
