Neurologist Surgeon (Physician #)

We are currently seeking a Vascular‑trained Neurologist desiring a leadership opportunity as stroke medical director of our comprehensive stroke center (0.1 FTE of a full 1.0 FTE position). The position is full‑time with an emphasis on inpatient neurology 24/7, 7 days on/7 days off work schedule with an estimated 15‑20 patients per day. It is a consult‑only service, including consults in the intensive care unit, general medical floor, and the emergency room. You will be expected to lead a large teaching service comprised of residents, interns, medical students, and a stroke APP. First call for all consults, including at night, are managed by the in‑house neurology residents. The staff neurologist is not expected to be in the hospital after hours. Opportunities for research and involvement in clinical trials are available to motivated applicants. All neurologists in our department have the opportunity to seek professorship appointment at the University of Minnesota. The ideal candidate will be comfortable treating acute neurological issues, have an academic mindset, and be dedicated to the treatment of the underserved. Although this position is focused on inpatient neurology, the balance of inpatient vs outpatient is negotiable.

Hours are Monday‑Friday 8 am‑6 pm in the hospital and on‑call (pager) after hours and weekends 8 am to the end of rounds, and pager call thereafter. Our providers work closely with learners throughout the hospital. Physicians are expected to take an active role in teaching fellows, residents, and medical students through direct patient care and formal/informal lectures.

Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Minnesota or be eligible for licensure.

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology.

If Board Eligible, must be Board Certified within 4 years from the date of completion of the applicable residency, fellowship or training program.

Vascular Neurology Fellowship.
