Pediatric Unit Nurse

Our 8-bed general pediatric unit is a close-knit environment where teamwork, positivity, and collaboration are central to daily practice. The highly engaged and supportive team works closely with a multidisciplinary group of pediatricians, family medicine providers, residents, respiratory therapists, and social workers to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care. In our smaller unit, you'll build meaningful connections with patients and families while having a strong voice within a supportive, collaborative environment that values both professional growth and a great team culture.

This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards. Birth Center and Pediatrics are considered "sister" units and staff float are expected to float between these units.

Assesses and evaluates the patient's physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes. Develops and implements patient's plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills Reviews and updates the plan of care based on changes in patient's condition.

Guides and directs patient care activities for the above-indicated population, by utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice.

Provides daily direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurse and Nurse Assistant

Serves as a steward for the hospital's human and material resources. Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. Supports staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours.

Part Time, 48hrs pay period, 7pm - 7:30am. Every 3rd weekend, every other holiday.

Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Previous experience in pediatric care and / or acute care preferred.
