The Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) at the Massachusetts General Hospital is a growing, vibrant division that provides high quality, patient-centered clinical care, outstanding training, and conducts research that impacts individual and population health. • Assuring competent, compassionate nursing care for specific patients and families.
• Responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care provided in clinic during a patients visit, including primary care for People Living With HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease specialty care.
• Collaborates with other health care providers and attending physicians in providing optimal health outcomes for patients.

• Infectious disease/HIV experience preferred.
• Proficient in speaking other languages, Spanish and/or Portuguese is strongly preferred.

Perform phlebotomy, provide SQ/IM injections and place peripheral intravenous lines for IV infusions.

• Serve as a resource and oversee the operational flow of the clinic in collaboration with other nursing staff and medical assistants.
• Provide education and follow up for patients on specific disease processes or therapies.
• Coordinate care for and monitor patients on injectable therapies including HIV treatment and prevention therapies.
• Collaborate with Community Health Workers to outreach to and follow up with high-risk primary care patients.
• Provide nursing services for the Traveler’s and Tropical Medicine Clinic when needed.

• Participate in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members.

• Utilizes resources efficiently to facilitate optimal patient care.
• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing and health care practices.
• Contributes to relevant committees, professional meetings, continuing educational and/or formal academic programs.

Ambulatory experience preferred.

-Microsoft Office and Epic computer literacy preferred.

Under the supervision of a Nurse Manager, licensed clinical leader, or non-clinical practice manager – and in collaboration with other team members – provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the scope of practice.

Does this position require Patient Care? Interviews patients about current problems, medications, and allergies, and reviews medical records for pertinent previous and current information.

• Based on the chief complaint, the physician may also perform additional screening exams as needed, such as hearing, vision, depression, and falls assessments.
• Provide basic patient care and treatments, such as dressing wounds, treating bedsores, administering enemas or douches, applying alcohol rubs, massaging, performing catheterizations, administering routine immunizations, and/or providing nebulizer treatments and visual acuity tests.
• Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse).
• Communicates post-visit findings and participates in the plan of care, in coordination with the appropriate clinical staff
• Performs a variety of office responsibilities: answers phones and takes messages, and performs triage within the scope of licensed practical nursing practice in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assist patients with bathing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, transferring in bed, and standing and walking. Regular Work Shift

31.50 - $43.64/Hourly Grade
