The unit has a total of 60 beds.
There are 50 staff members on the unit.
Day shift includes 1 charge nurse per floor, RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and a unit secretary when the grid allows.
Night shift also includes 1 charge nurse per floor, RNs, LVNs, and PCTs.
The patient ratio is 5:1 on the Med Surg floor and 6:1 on the other floor.
Equipment used includes remote telemetry, capnography, Alaris IV pumps, glucometers, and dynamaps.
The electronic medical record system is Alterra (Allscripts).
Typical procedures performed on the unit include abdominal procedures such as cholecystectomies, appendectomies, colectomies, and diagnostic procedures.
Gastric sleeve surgeries, total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements are also performed.
Ideal candidates are team-oriented, positive, and flexible.
Floating to other areas may be required as needed, including inpatient rehab, ED, and PCU.
Shifts on weekends will be necessary.
No on-call shifts are required.
The dress code consists of medical scrubs, transitioning to blue scrubs.
