The Nurse Practitioner provides primary health care to individuals and families in all aspects and developmental stages of life. This includes the management of health problems and the promotion of optimal health. May on occasion, oversee student Nurse Practitioners, new or volunteer Nurse Practitioners, and medical students.
o Consult with his or her supervising physician when necessary or under certain conditions as outlined in the Physician Supervision Agreement approved by the Ohio State Medical Board.
o Prescribe treatment for illnesses within the Nurse Practitioners scope of practice, based on standing orders and nurse practitioner formulary.
o Assess patient health by interviewing patients; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
o Develop and implement treatment plans according to accepted standards of care and within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice.
o Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including administering injections and immunizations; o Educate and counsel patients about their medical conditions and treatment options; discuss family planning; o Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Must have completed a formal Nurse Practitioner program at an accredited college or university.
Board certification as Nurse Practitioner from ANCC or other certifying board is required
Must hold current Ohio Registered Nurse licensure and Certificate of Authority.
Must have a valid DEA and able to prescribe medications under the Ohio Board of Nursing Certificate to Prescribe, using the established formulary
Must be experienced using Microsoft Outlook and EMR systems. EPIC experience preferred
