Research Fellow - Pathology

BioPhase Solutions is seeking an Associate, Breeding & Trait Development to support plant breeding and trait development activities for an innovative agricultural biotechnology company in San Diego.
This position will support the development and evaluation of gene-edited plants across tissue culture, growth chamber, and greenhouse environments. The ideal candidate will have a background in plant science, horticulture, greenhouse operations, plant breeding, botany, or a related field.
Responsibilities: Support the development and maintenance of plants in tissue culture, growth chambers, and greenhouse environments
Assist with plant breeding and trait development activities
Support greenhouse plant care and maintenance
Assist with plant evaluations and seasonal trial activities
Travel within the U.S. as needed to support multi-location evaluations and seasonal nursery activities
Help provide occasional weekend or holiday greenhouse coverage on a rotating basis
Maintain accurate records and utilize standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 0-2 years of relevant experience, OR Associate's degree/high school diploma with 2-4 years of relevant experience
Experience or educational background in plant culture, greenhouse maintenance, horticulture, plant breeding, botany, plant pathology, or a related area
Comfortable working in hot and humid greenhouse environments
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Strong organizational and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Ability to work onsite five days per week and provide occasional overtime or rotating weekend/holiday coverage as needed
Ability to travel domestically during certain seasonal periods
Must be authorized to work in the United States
