Job Summary:

The registered nurse (RN) specializing in post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) is based in Oakland, California. This position involves providing high-quality post-operative care to adolescent, infant, adult, and pediatric patients within a busy healthcare facility. Candidates are required to bring their valid California nursing license on the first day of assignment. The role involves working 10-hour day shifts with a variable start time.

Schedule: 10-hour days with a variable start time, minimum of 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications: CA Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification, minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in a PACU or equivalent setting, experience with community hospital charting system (Epic or Cerner), and trauma level 1 experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a teaching hospital, float experience across various units including ICU, CVICU, ED, PEDS, and clinic settings, and EMR proficiency in Epic and Cerner systems.

Certifications: BLS, PALS, CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) are required.

Additional Information: Requires interdisciplinary support engagement including respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, interpretation services, and social services. The unit handles diverse patient diagnoses such as sleep disordered breathing, appendicitis, leukemia, fractures, neuro issues, cardiac procedures, and more. The team performs special procedures including LP with chemo, bone marrow aspirate, tonsillectomy, and others. Travel experience is required, with floating assignments within a 75+ mile radius allowable.

Start Date: 07/21/2026, with an ASAP start preferred

Patient Population: Adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics

Responsibilities include: Managing ports, airway assessments, arterial line management, medication administration, patient education, post-op recovery, procedural sedation, and more depending on unit needs.
