This position is part of the Responsibilities Receives and/or stages stock for shipment or issue. Ensure correctness of quantities, identification and labeling. Performs ordinary packing, blocking and bracing, or requests assistance when substantial quantities are involved. Delivers stock received to the appropriate Service, Division, or Section. Completes documents, obtains signatures, maintains various records and prepares reports. Operates forklift trucks and electric walk-behind hand jacks and other automated equipment such as optical readers and scanners. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the Materials Handler, KX-6907-05 position, applicants must meet the following Screen Out-Element: #1 - Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT is not sufficient, you will not receive further consideration. In addition to the SCREENOUT, applicants must also have the ability to perform the following: 1) Receiving, shipping, checking, and recording all incoming/outgoing materials; 2) verifying quantities and condition of materials and/or equipment; AND 3) Maintaining bulk staging area for pallets and skids to include operating powered high and low-lift fork trucks to carry, lift, and stack loads of various materials. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
