The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides comprehensive skilled services under the direction of a Physical Therapist. The PTA educates patients and their family members and ensures patient safety. The PTA is accountable for completing accurate documentation and remains compliant with all legal rules and regulations.

Physical Therapist Assistant with a current license in the state of employment.
Minimum of one year of experience as a PTA in an acute setting.
Knowledgeable on therapy best practices.
Ability to make appropriate physical therapy judgments.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with your name listed as a driver.
Performs physical therapy procedures and diagnostic tests for which patients are medically prescribed.
Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance using physical means such as exercise, massage, heat, water, etc.
Recommends prosthetic/orthotic devices or evaluates them, making minor adjustments or recommending modifications.
Educates staff in specific physical therapy modalities when appropriate.
Educates patient and family on therapy techniques, safety measures, and supportive activities.
Instructs patient and family members on proper use of equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic/orthotic devices.
Documents all aspects of treatment, assessments, and patient education.
Participates in orientation/training of new employees.
Documents all aspects of subsequent, discharge, eval/recert/resumption of care visits within 24 hours.
Documents all aspects of start of care visits within 48 hours.
Follows plan of care as permitted within the scope of practice for a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, per the state of employment.
It includes patient care, preparation time, travel, lab drops, picking up supplies, charting, and communication with the patient’s family, physician, and other healthcare providers.

HEALTH QUALIFICATIONS

Evidence required of a current negative tuberculin skin test or X-ray, or TB testing at orientation date; Must be free of physical or medical conditions that would limit or restrict ability to perform essential functions.
May be at risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
Reading, speaking, writing English: 66%–100%.
Communication skills, computer/PDA usage: 66%–100%.
