The UW Medical Center-Montlake - Eastside Specialty Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Occupational Therapist 2 - Certified Hand Therapist.

Per Diem

Day Shift

The Hand Therapist will provide services to patients using specialized skills, including assess, plan, administer, evaluate and provide safe hand therapy.

The Hand Therapist will assess and treat a patient caseload ranging from routine to complex patient problems and situations.

Implement treatment programs, which include therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, fabrication of orthoses, and evidence-based utilization of physical agents.

Instruct, assign work and evaluate students as assigned by supervisor. The Therapist acts as a resource within the Exercise Training Center.

Collaborate with the therapy departments throughout UW Medicine to optimize patient care and staffing.

Interpret and carry out the referrals of the physician and other referring providers; protect confidential data; demonstrate economic use of time, equipment and supplies; Document intervention and strategies for treatment in required organizational systems. Provide home programs and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to termination of therapy intervention.

Assist in the review of program quality and development of procedures and protocols for the service area.

Educate, instruct, and be a resource to, residents training at the Exercise Training Center, in the area of hand and occupational therapy. Supervise clinical performance evaluation of affiliating OT and OTA students.

Fabricate orthoses for a variety of non-operative and post-operative conditions with a variety of orthotic materials.

Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program AND successful completion of American Occupational Therapy Association certification examination AND 12 months of professional occupational therapy experience.

OR Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification or registration.

Licensed by the state of Washington as an Occupational Therapist.
