As the successful new hire, you will work with our local team and beyond, focusing on waterfront/marine projects such as ports, Navy facilities, cruise destinations, marinas and more! This position provides you with an opportunity to grow within the engineering profession by participating in the structural design of large-scale, highly complex waterfront structures that support cruise and cargo ships, submarines and aircraft carriers, superyachts and recreational boats, and ferries/water taxis. The firm provides clients worldwide with customized service and a level of excellence that have become the firm’s hallmark in several primary practice areas - ports and harbors; coastal, environmental and water resources; urban waterfronts and marinas; transportation, bridges and rail; inspection and rehabilitation; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Participates in the conceptual development and design of waterfront structural projects across various industries including container shipping, defense, bulk material handling, oil and gas, and marinasPerforms structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures Analyzes static and dynamic loading on laterally performing structures, including the impact of soil-structure interaction Develops finite element models of marine structures using software such as SAP2000 or similarPrepares calculations and documents information for completed designsCoordinates and develops structural drawings with engineers and draftersPerforms site visits and inspections of existing structures to evaluate existing conditions and prepares condition assessment reports Assists with construction administration including periodic site visits and review of shop drawings, RFIs, and submittalsSupports quantity takeoffs for construction cost estimating Learns by attending and participating in meetings and conference calls with clients and project team members Other duties:Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural coursework or similar degree; requiredMaster’s degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis or similar; strongly preferredEntry level to 2+ years of experiencePrevious experience or internship/cooperative education in heavy civil, structural, or marine/waterfront design; strongly preferred Engineer In Training (EIT) certification; preferredFamiliarity with AutoCAD or a comparable drafting platformProficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000 or a comparable equivalentAll new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.Majority of work is office based.
